“Growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional” – Chili Davis
Step inside our beautiful 18th century manor home to experience all the charm of yesteryear alongside the most modern of conveniences and a first-rate standard of care.
Ballinamore House Nursing Home Co. Mayo was built in 1777 and served as the home of the Ormsby family. In 1936 the house was sold to the St John Of God Nuns who used the house as Care Home. In 1974 the house was sold to Western Care Association. The O’Boyle Family Purchased it in 1996 and with alot of love and attention restored it and opened it again as a Nursing Home in 1997.
Jack and Maree O’Boyle were involved in the care industry in the United Kingdom and joined forces with their Son Hugh and Daughter-in -Law Sharon whom invested their heart and soul in redeveloping the property for its current purpose. Today Ballinamore House Nursing Home is a vibrant and happy home that allows residents to move freely and safely, exploring the building’s various quirks and interesting features. The magnificent central staircase is a beautiful feature but we also have a 26 person lift on site to service the whole building which allows residents to maintain their movement around the three levels. In 2019 Sharon O’Boyle undertook a large extention which has maintained the unique features of this classic building but brought into it the required modern elements and Sharon continues to run the Home with the assistance of her Sons and Dedicated Staff.
The home is surrounded by six acres of lush greenery, garden walks and forest in the Kilitmagh countryside, providing plenty of supervised activity, stimulation and fresh air for residents to enjoy.
